Smart Accounts Creation

Here, we provide a guide on how to get started and onboard with SocketFi. It walks you through creating an account, setting account allowances, and assigning an external wallet as the owner.

Creating a Smart Account

To create a smart account on SocketFi, go to https://app.socket.fi/ and click the 'Create Account or Login' button at the top left corner or in the middle of the page.

Users have the option to create an account using a Stellar external account through the Freighter wallet (with other wallets being integrated) or via social media sign-in (currently, Twitter is the only option, but the team is working on adding other social sign-in options).

Using External Account (Freighter Wallet)

To use the Freighter wallet, the Freighter browser extension must be installed on your browser. If you haven't installed the Freighter wallet yet, click this link to install it: https://www.freighter.app/

Once installed, click the "Use Freighter Wallet" button, which will prompt you to connect to Freighter. After connecting, you’ll need to approve the following transactions: the "load smart contract" transaction and the "create contract" transaction. This will create your smart account, and the smart account ID will be displayed.

Using Social Sign-in (Twitter)

To create an account using social media sign-in, click the "Use Twitter Account" option. This will redirect you to Twitter, prompting you to authenticate the sign-in. Once your Twitter account has been authenticated, you will be routed to an account creation page, where you’ll need to enter a transaction password and set a transaction allowance.

After completing these fields, click the "Create Account" button, and your account will be created. Your smart account ID will then be displayed.
